Denture / Partial Denture Relines

Relines

Dentures often loosen over time and don't fit as well. This is because the bones and soft tissue in your mouth are always changing and dentures need to fit tightly against your gum tissue. When you have your teeth extracted, the bone and tissue that once held the teeth in place begin (and continue) to shrink. As this occurs, people often think they need a new denture. In reality, some of the time your denture just needs relined. This can easily be done in one visit and will give you a brand new fit. If you like the look of your teeth in your existing denture, a reline may be the answer you need! The same is true for partial dentures, although sometimes your natural teeth have shifted and may prevent a refitting of your existing partial. Let us take a look--you may be pleasantly surprised!

Repairs

Do you have a broken denture or partial denture? In most cases we can repair these in our in-house dental laboratory in one day. Just be sure to bring in all of the pieces, and let us do the rest! We think you will be pleased with the results.

Dentures

Dentures

You can design your own smile with our custom-made dentures. Using modern techniques and a photograph of you when you had your natural teeth, we can duplicate the look you had before your teeth were extracted. Or, if you would rather, we can give you an all new beautiful smile! Dr. Snyder customizes your denture to achieve a natural look which is both aesthetically appealing and comfortable. You will be able to see how your smile looks at a “ try-in” appointment where we can make changes. We also offer a customized immediate denture which is placed at the same time your teeth are extracted and then adjusted as your mouth heals from the extractions.

Partial Dentures

Partial Dentures

We can restore your smile with a custom-made flexible partial that is attractive, comfortable, and virtually unbreakable. This affordable partial puts less stress on your existing teeth. We also offer a conventional partial with an acrylic or metal base and an immediate partial which is put in right after your teeth are extracted. A partial is especially important if you are missing your back teeth--- it keeps your chewing in the back which will help you avoid breaking your front teeth. Each partial denture is made specifically for you---aesthetically pleasing with great fit and function.

Children

Children

In our office, our goal is not only to promote the dental health of your child, but perhaps most importantly, to create a dental home that will guide your child into adulthood without a fear of dentistry. We want them to have healthy teeth and gums for a lifetime!

Dr. Snyder recommends that children first come to see us when they get their first tooth or by their first birthday. Flossing should be started (by Mom or Dad) when any two teeth come in and touch each other.

We have a “friend” at our Martinsburg, WV office named Alexander Alligator who loves to teach children how to brush and take care of their teeth—although he HAS been known to occasionally get carried away and squirt a bit of water at the unsuspecting patient!

Dr. Snyder has raised four children and is well prepared to understand your child and give them an experience they will look forward to having again.

Mouthguards

Sports Mouthguards

The American Dental Association promotes the use of a properly fitted mouthguard as the best available protection to reduce the severity of sports-related dental injuries. These injuries include chipped or broken teeth as well as injuries to your lips, tongue, and the soft tissues of your mouth. Mouthguards should be used by anyone (adult or child) playing contact sports or engaging in any recreational activity that might pose a risk of injury to the mouth (ie: gymnastics, skateboarding, etc.)

Our mouth protectors are custom-fitted and individually designed to provide comfort and protection.

Nightguards

Do your front teeth look like they’re the same length or flat on the tops?
Do you wake up with a stiff jaw or jaw pain?
Do you have neck pain?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions you may be clenching or grinding your teeth in your sleep. This condition is called bruxism. When it occurs on a regular basis it can fracture or loosen your teeth and can also wear your teeth down to stumps. It can also affect your jaws, worsen TMD/TMJ and even change the shape of your face.

A nightguard is a thin, clear removable device designed to help protect against bruxism. It is custom-made to fit over either your upper or lower teeth as you sleep. It will protect your natural teeth and your fillings and is highly recommended for those who have crowns, bridges and/or implants.

Restorative Dentistry

Restorative Dentistry

In our office we use beautiful tooth-colored (called composite) filling materials that blend in with the natural color of your teeth. (It is hard to tell where the tooth ends and the filling begins!) Our fillings are strong and also transmit fluoride to the inside of the tooth to resist further decay.

Composite fillings are used for:
• Chipped teeth
• Decayed teeth
• Filling spaces between teeth
• Cracked or broken teeth

Although we do tooth colored fillings, we do not recommend automatically replacing your old silver fillings unless you don't like their appearance or they are causing you trouble.

Tooth Whitening

Getting whiter teeth has become one of the most requested procedures in cosmetic dentistry.  Lots of things we do on a regular basis can stain our teeth---drinking coffee, tea, cola, red wine, etc. Aging can also darken our teeth. We offer customized trays and whitening kits for at-home use. We can help you get your smile looking its best!

Veneers

A veneer is a thin porcelain shell which is bonded to the front of your tooth. It can correct spaces between your teeth and fix chipped or crooked teeth. Veneers can also fix worn down teeth and change the shape, size, or color of your teeth. Some teeth don't respond well to whitening or bleaching, and a porcelain veneer may be the better choice. One special type of veneer we offer is an ultra thin veneer which is drill-less. Our goal is to create a beautiful and natural looking smile---results you can't help smile about!

Crowns

A crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that totally covers a tooth or an implant. With modern materials and techniques we can make crowns which are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. We can match the shade and mimic the translucency of your teeth. A crown is used to cover a weakened tooth to keep it from breaking or to restore a broken tooth. A crown can also cover a tooth that is poorly shaped and/or discolored. Our ultimate goal is to restore a beautiful smile!

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic Dentistry

We understand the importance of a beautiful, healthy smile. Cosmetic dentistry includes tooth whitening/bleaching, veneers, and crowns. People choose cosmetic dental procedures for many different reasons. Do you want to improve your smile? Or maybe you need to fix a problem such as stained teeth, a gap between teeth, or an injury to your mouth. But the end result is always the same--a smile you will be happy to give away!

Checkups

Checkups

Checkups are usually done twice a year. We examine each tooth to check existing restorations and make sure you don't have any new decay. We look at your gum health and the level of tooth support. We also clean and polish your teeth, getting rid of tartar buildup and surface staining. If necessary, we will do x-rays to see things like tooth decay hidden between teeth as well as bone support around your teeth.

Regular visits allow us to check for early signs of problems (that you may not see or feel) when they can be treated at a manageable stage. Some dental problems don't become visible or cause pain until they are in more advanced stages.

We also offer sealants and fluoride treatments for children. Sealants are thin coatings that cover and fill the cracks and crevices in back teeth to make them smoother and easier to keep clean, as well as to keep out food debris. Fluoride, when applied to your child's  teeth, fights cavities by making the tooth enamel stronger. While some children are exposed to fluoride through drinking tap water, children who drink bottled water instead of tap water may not be getting enough fluoride. Both sealants and fluoride treatments are designed to help prevent tooth decay and keep your child's smile healthy.
